In basic poker games, players strategically wager using the following poker betting actions:
Bet -You want to wager on the current betting round
Call - When a player call, his bet matches his opponent’s wager.
Raise - When a player raise, he raise the current bet and make a greater bet.
Fold - You don’t want to bet any further money in the current poker game. When a player folds, his all interest in the pot is forfeited.
Check - You are still in the game but don’t want to bet. When a player checks, his betting action is passed to next poker player sitting left to from him or her. However, this does not forfeit your interest your interest in the pot.
In all the betting rounds, betting continues until the player just left the last better or raiser acts. When this player acts, the next betting round starts or the hand completes.
The “showdown” occurs when the last bet or raise is called in the final betting round. At the showdown time, all the players show their hands one-by-one and the pot is awarded to the player having the highest rankings hand.
Important Note: No showdown occurs when a players bets or raises and all the other active players fold. In this case, the player doing the betting or raising wins the entire pot.
Basic Poker Play: Table Stakes and All-In
Basic poker is usually played “table stakes” which means that stake or chips that a player places on the table at the beginning of each hand may not be changed throughout the hand.
All- in Rule: All in rule is an application of the table stakes rule. According to All-in rule, a player can’t be forced to forfeit a poker hand, if he doesn’t have enough chips to call a bet.
When a player doesn’t have enough chips to call a bet, then he/she is declared All-in. In this case, the all-in player will be eligible for the share of the pot to the point of his/her final wager.
When a player is declared all-in, all the further betting actions involving other poker players occurs in a “side pot” which is not entitled for the All in player. All poker variants have different poker rules. Visit our ……………..
