The Gillard government has turned down to drop its disaster-prone compulsory poker machine pre-assurance proposal in the midst of allegations, and it wish for the reform to fall short in the parliament. Today, Andrew Wilkie, a prime independent, went to Adelaide for briefing his associate campaigner Nick Xenophon, who is also anti-pokies. He will discuss about the conversations he had with Julia Gillard in this weekend. During that time the government revealed its intentions that there are no such plans to drop its scheme to force poker gamblers to set their loss limits. In this context, Mark Dreyfus, the Cabinet Secretary, made it very clear that the government was completely determined to take action on problem gambling. He also said that the government would support its 11th hour power contract with Mr Wilkie to make safe minority government.
