In Five card Stud poker, 1 hole card and 4 faced-up cards are dealt to each poker player. The pot is awarded to the player having the highest five-card poker hand. Before the game starts, all players place a compulsory ante. In the first round of five card stud poker, 1 faced-up card and 1 hole card is dealt to each poker player and the player having the lowest faced-up card place a forced “bring-in” bet.
When the forced bring-in bet has been made, the first betting round starts from the player sitting immediately to the dealer. After the first betting round, second faced-up card is dealt to all the players followed by the second betting round starting from the player having the highest two faced up cards. When the second betting round is completed, third faced-up card is dealt to each poker player, followed by the third betting round. After the third betting round, the fourth and final faced-up card is dealt to each poker player, followed by the fourth betting round. When the fourth betting round is over, a showdown occurs.
At the showdown time, the remaining active players will show their hands and the pot is awarded to the player having the highest five-card poker hand.
